What is RoboRAVE?

A ROBOTICS EDUCATION program to teach students and teachers how to design, build, program and test robots to perform a variety of tasks.

An international ROBOT COMPETITION for teams of kids, ages 8 to adults, to test their design in one or more RoboRAVE events.

Competition Divisions

ES Elementary:  3rd to 5th   

MS  Middle:  6th to 8th

HS  High:   9th to 12th

BK  Big:  Everyone above 12 th

How to Participate?

Team

1  Form a TEAM of 2-4 players & a COACH

2  Choose one or more CHALLENGES to participate

3  REGISTER for regional/national/international EVENT

4  Design, buld & program your robot and COMPETE

What is a CHALLENGE?

  ROBOT has to PERFORM a TASK witnin THREE minutes

  HOW FAST the robot completes the TASK is a factor for competition.

  All challenges except "Robotovate" require AUTONOMOUS robots

How is the COMPETITION organized?

Typically a TWO DAY, indoor event. Teams bring their robot and programming gear. Teams practice on the competition tracks and attempt scoring rounds. Teams continiously improve their robot design and code to improve their score over the two days. Ranking will be determined based on performance and consistency.

Registration: $150 per team (includes ONE challange); $25 for additional challege participation

Alphine Bot Challenge

Challenge Goal

An autonomous robot that climbs a 60 to 80 degree incline plane to the top of a "mountain" to place your country or state flag in the designated zone.

MS +   HS  +   BK 

Everyone plays as ONE division.

Jousting Challenge

Challenge Goal

To design, build, and program a line following robot that can carry a knight that will knock off your opponent’s knight by using it’s lance

Open to: ES  MS 

Teams play in their RESPECTIVE division.

Line Following Challenge

Challenge Goal

An autonomous robot must follow a line to a tower, and deliver a set number of ping pong balls and return to home under 3 minutes.

Open to: ES  MS  HS 

Teams compete in their RESPECTIVE divisions.

a-MAZE-ing Challenge

Challenge Goal

To design, build and program a robot capable of completing an elevated maze in 3 minutes or less. The faster your robot can complete this task, the higher will be your score.

Open to: ES  MS 

Teams compete in their RESPECTIVE divisions.

Fire Fighting Challenge

Challenge Goal

To design, build, and program an autonomous robot that can locate 4 lit candles, approach and extinguish each, without touching the candles.

Open to: MS +   HS  +   BK 

Everyone plays as ONE division.

The Entrepreneurial Challenge

Challenge Goal

Market for votes from all attendees at RoboRAVE, an innovative, working robotic product (autonomous and/or remote controlled) that customers will want to buy!

Open to: ES  +   MS +   HS  +   BK
